Report from the meeting of 31 May 2007

South Ayrshire Access Panel meets on the last Thursday in each month and tackles issues relating to making the environment, facilities and services in South Ayrshire available to all its residents.

Planning consultations under discussion by the Panel this month included a diner in Ayr, a conversion of a former school to a residential property and a number of alterations to residential premises.

The Panel heard that the Shopmobility Scheme would not be permitted to hold their usual fund raising tombola at Ayr Flower Show this year. This may mean that the service will operate at a loss, unless other funding materialises.

The Panel's Access Guides to Girvan/Maybole and Prestwick/Troon have now all been distributed to outlets for handing out to members of the public. Copies are available from libraries and tourist information offices among other sources.

It was reported that alterations to the Ayr Central Development, due to begin soon to make the development more user friendly and safer for all, have still to commence.

Ongoing issues: Disabled parking bay markings in a Maybole supermarket car park; car blocking of the new Kassel Kerb bus stops; crossing points in Ayr High Street. More on these next month.

Reports from previous meetings - November 2005 onwards - can be found in the News archive.
