ServiceCall - in use at Monkton Lodge Filling Station - is a system designed to make it easier for a person with limited mobility to use petrol stations, banks, supermarkets, shops and many other services. For hundreds of blind and partially sighted people across Scotland, a guide dog makes a big difference; transforming their freedom, mobility, confidence and independence.
You don’t need to be completely blind to qualify for a guide dog and there’s no upper age limit.
Despite the training costs, it costs just 50p to have a guide dog, with all essential equipment and training provided by The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, including vet bills and dog food if people wish.
Anyone with sight loss is encouraged to contact Guide Dogs, and explore the best way of meeting their specific mobility needs. There’s nothing to lose and potentially much to gain by considering all the options – so get in touch!
