Accessibility Statement

Most browsers nowadays support the access key function. On a windows machine, this involves pressing the "alt" key along with a specified key (usually a number key), although in Internet Explorer 6, the 'return' or 'enter' key needs to be pressed too,+ and on Macs, use the"ctr" key instead.
In this site, there are only seven access keys at present as it is a small site;
- Access key 1 - Home page
- Access key 2 - Meetings and events
- Access key 3 - Links page
- Access key 4 - Site map
- Access key 5 - Joining and contact details
- Access key 6 - Access guide to Ayr town centre
- Access key 7 - Accessibility statement
All pages on this site validate as XHTML1.0 Strict and use cascading style sheets to help keep the code more simple and less prone to these errors which can lead to accessibility problems.
All pages on this site have "back to the top of the page" links and "back to home page" links to aid navigation.
We have added a hover colour to the links on this site so that they become more obvious when in focus.
We have a 'Skip' link on this site. This becomes visible when tabbing through the links (or read by screen readers). It gives you the choice of skipping to the main page content or to the global navigation. it is available for use on every page of the site.
Many of the links have "title" attributes for added detail. This feature will be increased as the site grows.
All the images on this site have an "alt" description so that, if you have the image function switched off on your computer, you will still know what they are. Images also have "title" attributes which show when the image is moused over.
All the text on this site is relative so that you can enlarge it in your browser if necessary.
This site has a choice of three viewing styles to aid accessibility and usability. Thanks go to Brian Rootham for his help with the JavaScript required for the style switcher.
